Elmer Ellsworth Commemorative Envelope
This is an envelope with the portrait of Elmer Ellsworth and a quote attributed to him: "He who noteth even the fall of a sparrow will have some purpose even in the fate of one like me." Elmer Ellsworth was a Zouave soldier who was the first Union casualty of the war. His death created a fervor for the war in the North.
