Brigadier General Henry Bohlen (1810-1862)

Henry Bohlen was born in Germany and came to the United States when he was a youth, settling in Philadelphia and acquiring wealth in the liquor business. At the outbreak of the Civil War he became colonel of the 75th Pennsylvania (German) volunteers and was promoted to Brigadier General. He was killed in action at Freeman's Ford in Virginia on August 22, 1862.
