Clara Barton (1821-1912)

Clara Barton was known as the "Angel of the Battlefield." She was a humanitarian and organizer of the American Red Cross. She nursed soldiers during the Civil War and organized a supply service for them. President Lincoln appointed her in 1865 to search for missing prisoners and her records helped to identify the many dead at the Andersonville Prison. The bottom of the cabinet card is signed "Very sincerely yours, Clara Barton."
