Adam Badeau (1831-1895)

Adam Badeau was an American author and soldier who served on the staff of Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, was present when Robert E. Lee surrendered to Grant, and was brevetted a brigadier general. After the war, Badeau served as a diplomat to England and Cuba and wrote several books about Grant and his diplomatic experiences.
