Here is John Mitchell's 1755 map of the colonies that was drafted for the Lords Commissioners for Trade and Plantations. The hand coloring emphasized the extent of colonial charters. The quality of this particular map was so fine that a version of it was used when negotiating a treaty in Paris after the Revolutionary War in 1783.
