Agnes Wallace (b.1851)

Agnes Wallace, a British actress, made her 1855 debut at the Strand Theatre, London, in children's roles. In 1860, Annie and Jenny, "the Wallace Sisters," debuted in the U.S. at the Academy of Music, Albany, New York. Agnes first appeared in New York as Anne Boleyn at the New York Theatre in 1868, and in that same year her two little sisters, Maude and Minnie, made their stage debut as "danseuses" (ballet dancers) in "Humpty Dumpty" at the Olympic Theatre. The family went on tour in 1869, presenting burlesques. As late as 1879 Agnes still performed at the Grand Opera House. The actress eventually became a playwright. Displaying her abundant hair, Wallace poses in a simple tunic at the Gurney studio in New York.
