Ada Dyas (1843-1908)
Actress Ada Dyas played both Laura and Anne Catherick in George Vining's 1871 production of Wilkie Collins's "Woman in White," at London's Olympic Theatre. The actress made her U. S. debut with Augustin Daly's company then joined the Wallack company. Dyas was sent in 1887 to California by A. M. Palmer. Back in London in 1892, Dyas played Goneril at the Lyceum Theatre. Edith Wharton's "The Age of Innocence" immortalized Dyas as one of the lovers in Dion Boucicault's play, "The Shaughraun."
