Amelia B. Edwards (1831-1892)

Amelia Ann Blandord Edwards was an author and Egyptologist. She was the daughter of one of the officers of the Duke of Wellington. Her collections of writings include "The Phantom Coach: Collected Ghost Stories" and "Untrodden Peaks and Unfrequented Valleys." Her novels include "A Thousand Miles Up the Nile" and "Lord Brackenbury." Amelia Edwards bequeathed her valuable collection of Egyptian antiquities to University College, London, together with money to found a chair of Egyptology.
