Adelaide Ristori (1822-1906)
Adelaide Ristori, an Italian actress, had her first success at age 14, as Francesca da Rimini. In 1866 she made the first of four visits to the U.S., where she was well received in Giacometti's "Elizabeth." Her favorite roles were Mary Stuart, Elizabeth I, Phaedra and Lady Macbeth.
