Charles D. Poston (1825-1902)

Charles Debrille Poston, the "father of Arizona," was a western pioneer and explorer, silver mining entrepreneur, journalist, and expert at Indian affairs and irrigation. He persuaded the U.S. government to create the Arizona Territory in 1863 and became its first delegate to the U.S. Congress (1864-65).
