Alexander K. McClure (1828-1909)

Alexander Kelly McClure was a lawyer, legislator, author, and editor. He was elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1858) and to the state senate (1859). A political independent, McClure founded the "Times" in Philadelphia in 1875 in order to create a voice for independent forces. He devoted his later years to writing.
