"Battle of Germantown, Attack on Judge Chew's House"

The Continental Army, under General Washington's direction, unsuccessfully attacked General Howe's forces in Germantown on October 4, 1777. The Continental Army was hindered by a heavy fog as they tried to destroy Judge Chew's house. This picture was engraved by Robert Hinshelwood after a painting by Alonzo Chappel.
