William McKinley Campaign Poster
This poster from the 1900 campaign, in which Republican William McKinley ran for president with running mate Theodore Roosevelt, features McKinley standing atop a gold coin held up by a group of men with cheerful faces. The coin is labeled "Sound Money." To McKinley's right is an illustration of a ship, with the word "Commerce" written over it. A factory is on his left, marked "Civilization." At the top are the words "Prosperity at Home, Prestige Abroad." McKinley and Roosevelt won the election, but McKinley was assassinated in the following year.
