Sir Joseph Hooker (1817-1911)

Sir Joseph Hooker was director of England's famous Kew Gardens from 1865 to 1885. His travels - from the Himalayan Mountains to the Rocky Mountains - made him a great plant explorer. He wrote massive works on flowering plants. He was a close friend and confidant of Darwin, and a great proponent of Darwin's theory of evolution.
