A man suns himself as he looks off toward the Hudson River, unseen here. The picture was taken from 123 Street, east of Tenth Avenue (later Amsterdam Ave) and a few blocks west of what will be Central Park. The spire marks the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation; adjacent is Manhattan College.
