"A Little More Grape Capt. Bragg"
Underneath the title of this print are the words "General Taylor at the Battle of Buena Vista Feby. 23d 1847." Mounted on a horse in the foreground, Taylor points his sword at Captain Braxton Bragg (1817-1876) as he orders him to keep firing. At this battle, the last of the Mexican War for General Zachary Taylor, the Mexicans retreated after two days of heavy fighting. The heroic efforts of Captain Bragg were instrumental in the U.S. victory; he was recognized for his service by being made lieutenant-colonel. This lithograph was engraved and printed by Nathaniel Currier in 1847.
