1868 Presidential Campaign Placards

This is a double campaign placard from the 1868 presidential campaign. One of the signs contains a portrait of Republican candidate Ulysses S. Grant and states, "God grant us peace." The other contains a portrait of Democratic candidate Horatio Seymour and states, "We Shall See More Rads 'bottled up' in November." "Rads" refers to the radical republicans and "bottled up" may be a reference to Grant's supposed alcoholism that the Democrats exploited during the campaign.
