Daguerreotype of Zachary Taylor and His Cabinet

President Taylor stands in the center. Seated, from left to right, are: William M. Meredith, secretary of the treasury; Thomas Ewing, secretary of the interior; John M. Clayton, secretary of state; William B. Preston, secretary of the Navy; George W. Crawford, secretary of war; Jacob Collamer, postmaster general; and Reverdy Johnson, attorney general. This is the earliest known photograph of a president and his complete cabinet.
