The Louisiana Purchase Treaty, Page 4 of 7
On April 29, 1803, U.S. envoys agreed to pay a total of $15 million to France for approximately 828,000 square miles of land. The land in question doubled the national domain. The final boundaries of the territory were not settled for many years, since the 1803 treaty did not set the limits of the region.
