John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937)
John Davidson Rockefeller, the American industrialist and philanthropist, is shown here by an automobile. He founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870. He founded the University of Chicago, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Rockefeller University, which does medical research, and contributed to many other charitable organizations.
