John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937)
John Davidson Rockefeller, the American industrialist and philanthropist, is shown here in a carriage. He founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870. He founded the University of Chicago, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Rockefeller University which does medical research and contributed to many other charitable organizations.
