George Armstrong Custer (1839-1876)
George Armstrong Custer is shown here in his military uniform wearing a black hat. He fought under Philip Sheridan during the Civil War with great success, but is most often remembered for his defeat at the Little Bighorn, where he and his entire unit lost their lives in a battle against the Sioux Indians on June 25th, 1876.
